Its concept is a throwback to old videogames that featured low-quality graphics and rudimental 3D effects. We aren’t doing this because we cannot program, but because UFO Game was born to tribute the videogames which made current technologies and brought them this forward in time.

History

UFO Game Entertainment was born on May 9, 2013. It was originally called UFO Games, because the videogames it had to develop had to be fantastic and mythical, like UFOs. Then its name changed to UFO Game because it had to publish only one debut videogame: The Magic World of Tobidou (original name: Il magico mondo dei Tobidou). Now we aren’t developing it anymore, but you’ll find the demo (which came out in Italian in 2015) once we finish translating it to English. Now the company is called UFO Game Entertainment because its videogames are made for entertainment purposes.

The site came out in June 2017 after a long development started in 2015. This delay was caused by long styling improvements and programming issues.

Today we’re developing one videogame we hope we’ll publish by summer 2019.

Our work is hard, as managing a company without any money income is tough. But we do this because we all were players once and we know very well the frustration of annoying ads banners, forced in-app purchases, and expensive videogames. At the same time, we are spending a lot of money on it, as we deeply believe in it. You might be thinking now that the low-quality style is due to the lack of money we run into every day. Instead, such a “poor” graphic is because of our personal style, which tries to resemble old videogames, fathers of today’s entertainment world.

Tobidou

Tobidou is the basic sprite you will find everywhere in our games where it is supposed to be one or more human character(s). You will notice them wearing different clothes but the main design will not change. It was created when UFO Game Entertainment was born and since then it has become an iconic image of the company. At that time, we were designing Super Flyer and we started with an empty canvas 32×32. It was a really small picture comparing it with modern smartphone-shot images, but we started from there and now we are here, developing games just because we like it, not for money. We eventually brought some updates on its elementary style, as you can see here. The last version includes a four-step walking animation.

You might be asking yourself where the name comes from… well, it’s a long story you can read here.

Because we really like them, we would like you to have the opportunity to create your very own Tobidou too. Click on the following link which will bring you to the “Tobidou Creator” page. We developed the mobile application as well, so you can create Tobidous wherever and whenever you want, even on the go. On the dedicated page, you will find everything you need.

We are made of pixels, elementary colors and squared shapes. We are way far from looking like humans and our animations are so poor when we walk we seem bugged, but we are the core of the company and we are proud of being part of it. We encourage everybody to remember where we get from because without that old-style fashion we would not be here.
